Monthly Reports
Mr. Weeks indicated that the Park Manager's position would not be filled
at this time, but that recuiting for the Park Supervisor position would
begin shortly
Chairman Schlesinger inquired how the recration program at Hoover
School was developing. Mr. Paulson indicated that the program is not
to the point where the Department had hoped it would be. There is one
major problem: CETA insists that their employees must work 8 hours a
day, 40 hours a week; and occasionally the activities are overstaffed,
yet during heavy use time, there are not enough employees to adequately
supervise. Split work schedules are being tried; however, it would be
much better if part-time employment could be used. Participation by
students durinq after-school hours has been poor except for teen nights
which is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
MOTION: Commissioner Pound moved, seconded by Commissioner
Anderson, to accept the monthly reports. The
motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
REPORT ITEM 4. Committee Schedulinq
Mr. Weeks requested a meeting with the Budget, Capital Improvements
and Legislative Committee in order to initiate disussian on Capital
Improvement Programs for fiscal year 1978-79. A meeting was scheduled
for Wednesday, January 18th at 4:00 p.m.
ROUND TABLE
Commissioner Pound pointed out that there are no classes for mothers
during the hours of Tiny Tots on Monday, Wednesday and Friday after-
noons. She feels it would be a good idea to get a class for Tiny Tot
Mothers, so that they could keep occupied while their children were
in the class. This will be investigated.
Mr. Weeks indicated that the budget funds would allow one Corrnissioner
to attend the 30th Annual California & Pacific Southwest Recreation &
Park Conference in Fresno from February 24-28, 1978. Commissioners
present at the meeting indicated that they would be unable to attend.
-5-
