Community Activities Building <br /> The usual wedding receptions and parties were held at the Comnunity <br /> Activities Building and the Veterans Building. The Annual Camellia <br /> Show was held at the Veterans Building on February 10, 11 & 12, with <br /> silver plated trophies awarded to the winners. Redwood City Comnunity <br /> Theater has its production of "Little Mary Sunshine" for March 17, 18, <br /> 24 & 25 at 8:30 p.m. <br /> GUIDE Program <br /> The third annual GUIDE career training conducted with Sequoia High <br /> School for Latino students began on February 9, at Sequoia District <br /> Board Room with an orientation and guest speaker from the Department <br /> of Labor. On February 16, the students were given a tour of the voca- <br /> tional programs available within their owrr school which are many. On <br /> February 23, students are scheduled for a tour of the Regional Occupa- <br /> tion Program (ROP) centers in the District. Thirty students are <br /> registered in the program and will receive a unit of credit upon com- <br /> pletion. <br /> Hoover School Project <br /> The Hoover program is running smoothly with plans being made for the <br /> Easter vacation period when the facilities will be open Monday through <br /> Friday for activities. A special Tiny Tots program is being planned <br /> for one day. Contacts are being made with a number of parent groups <br /> and organizations in the neighborhood to inform them of the various <br /> � programs. <br /> The multi-purpose room is now open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to <br /> 2:00 p.m. for drop-in basketball and volleyball . Attendance seems to <br /> be picking up. Also facilities were open on February 13 and 20, for <br /> the children. <br /> A very successful carroms tournament was conducted in January and early <br /> February. Attempts were made to start a disco dance class but no <br /> sign-ups were forthcoming. The Tuesday and Thursday recreation nights <br /> are doing very well . <br /> Red Morton Recreation Center <br /> On Wednesday, February 15, the Red Morton Center staff had a ski orien� <br /> tation and informational meeting for parents and participants. There <br /> was a good turn out and questions asked were what ski clothing do you <br /> -6- <br />
