PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> APRIL 1978 _ <br /> Red Morton Park <br /> Interviews with several electrical engineering firms that expressed an <br /> interest in the new lighting project for Red Morton Park have now been <br /> completed. A detail scope of work is being prepared for the work and <br /> a selection will be made the first week of May. A contract will then <br /> be negotiated with the firm for the relighting of Bechet-Griffin athletic <br /> fields and the new tennis courts. The plans and specifications for this <br /> work will be completed by July or early August so as to coincide with <br /> the receipt of the funds for the project from the State Grant Program. <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> The completion of minor grading work necessary for final acceptance of <br /> the grading portion-of the project was initiated even though delayed <br /> by April rains. It now appears that this work will be completed the <br /> first part of May. <br /> The final coating of the playing surface of the �ennis courts is now <br /> complete. The courts have been striped for play and the net posts <br /> installed. After a thorough curing of the surface treatment, the <br /> courts will be ready for final acceptance the second week of May. <br /> Upon final acceptance it is planned to open the courts for play pro- <br /> vided there are no complications with the contractor and the bonding <br /> company responsible for the project. <br /> Plans and specifications are now complete in order to call for bids <br /> for the turfing and landscaping of the new park areas and bids will <br /> be called for around the middle of May. <br /> Palm Park <br /> The City Council , at their meeting of April 10, 1978, approved the <br /> plans and specifications for the Palm Park project and authorized the <br /> call for bids. Bids must be submitted by May 16, 1978. It is felt <br /> that upon review of the bids a recomnendation for a contract can be <br /> made prior to the end of May. Work should be underway in early June <br /> to complete this park. <br /> Canyon Park <br /> The plans and specifications for the first phase of development of <br /> Canyon Park are complete. The State Department of Parks & Recreation <br /> indicates their approval of the project pending confirmation that the <br /> -3- <br />
