Planting of <br /> the fl�ower 6eds should be completed by the middle of May. <br /> Work is underway for the installation of the sprinkler system which <br /> will be followed by the planting of landscape material in the various <br /> planter beds created by the recent Winslow,Street cut-through project. <br /> This work is being accomplished by the Facility Maintenance crew and , <br /> the Eastside crew. <br /> The renovation of the turf areas on the various ball diamonds and <br /> athletic fields is now complete except for the 49er field. This field <br /> has been prepared to receive sod which will be placed in the badly worn <br /> areas. With reasonably favorable weather conditions this field will be <br /> in excellent condition for the su�ner season use as well as for the 49er <br /> use starting in the fall . <br /> In that the vacant full-time Park Supervisor classification will not be <br /> filled until after the June 6 election, Park Leader James Littlefield <br /> has been temporarily upgraded to the Park Supervisor classification in <br /> order to assist with the increased seasonal work loads in the park areas. <br /> Spring weather has brought an influx of work requests to the Street Tree <br /> section, keeping the crews extremely busy throughout the month of April . <br /> Additionally, Forestry crews have also completed several special projects <br /> on various public rights-of-way around the City at the request of the <br /> Public Works Department. They have also performed special trimning work <br /> on several large pine trees at the Lakeview Reservoir upon request from <br /> the Water Department. <br /> Following the relaxation of water restrictions, the Street Tree crews <br /> have reinitiated the planting of street trees in City parkways. This <br /> practice was discontinued for the past two years and, therefore, a <br /> backlog of planting has resulted. Additionally, the Forestry crew <br /> has completed a major area pruning assignment in the Dolphin Shores <br /> section of RedwoodShores together with block pruning projects on <br /> Hampton, Lancaster Way, Convention Way, Ohio Avenue, Idaho Court, <br /> and Fox Court East. <br /> -5- <br />
