{ � <br /> PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF MAY 10, 1978 <br /> The regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission was called to <br /> order by Chairman Schlesinger at 7:43 p.m. , in the Conference Room of <br /> the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Cor�nissioners Castle, Hayes, Knecht, Pound, <br /> Schlesinger <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioners Anderson, Weintraub <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Max C. Weeks, Parks & Recreation Director <br /> Bill Paulson, Recreation Superintendent <br /> Dane Jones, Program Coordinator <br /> MOTION: Commissioner Schlesinger moved to accept the <br /> minutes of the April 12, 1978, Regular Business <br /> Meeting. The motion passed unanimously by <br /> voice vote. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Announcement of Legislative Conference in Sacramento which is to be held <br /> on June 7, 1978. Mr. Schlesinger indicated that he would be in Oroville <br /> on vacation at that time and might be able to attend. <br /> AGENDA ITEM l . REVIEW OF HOOVER SCNOOL P�OGRAM - STAFF <br /> Mr. Weeks reported that Dane Jones was in attendance and that he is con- <br /> ducting the Hoover School Program. He further indicated the Department <br /> has submitted requests in the 1978-79 budget for continuation of the <br /> program together with requests for Revenue Sharing funds. <br /> Bill Paulson indicated that Dane Jones has been working with the pro- <br /> gram since October 1977. He feels the program has developed quite well . <br /> The purpose of the program is to provide additional leisure service <br /> o�oortunities for the youth in the eastern part of Redwood City. Bill <br /> Paulson requested Dane Jones to review the status of the program. <br /> Dane Jones reviewed the program for the Commission. He indicated there <br /> are two school rooms (one for elementary students and one for junior <br /> high students) being used for recreation purposes that function through- <br /> out the day. In these rooms are game tables such as foosball , carooms, <br /> and craft games which were supplied by the Department. <br /> -1- <br />
