. . . �✓' �w�r+' <br /> RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DECEMBER 1978 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> A number of Christmas parties, dances and special celebrations were held <br /> at both the Community Activities Building and the Veterans Memorial <br /> Building during December. The San Mateo County Senior Forum held their <br /> party on December 8, at tf�e Veterans Building; American �lssociation of <br /> Retired Persons West had their party on December 21 , at the C.A.B. ; and <br /> the Sequoia Gem and Mineral Society had their annual party on December 8, <br /> at the C.A.B. to mention a few. <br /> The Sequoia Stamp Club held its annual stamp show at the Community Acti- <br /> vities Building on December 9 and 10. <br /> Special Interest Classes - These ended in late November and early Decem- <br /> ber. New classes for the winter session are generally scheduled to <br /> begin the week of January 22. The winter brochure will be delivered <br /> door-to-door on Friday, December 29, with mail-in registrations beqin- <br /> ning on January 2. Efforts have been made by our Registrar to beef up <br /> the publicity for winter classes and along with some extra help from <br /> the Ad-Visor, we are hoping to receive better coverage and greater num- <br /> bers registering for classes than in the fall . <br /> SPORTS AND AQUATICS <br /> Adult Basketball - During the month of December, the Adult Basketball <br /> Leagues first half came to a conclusion. The six leagues were reorganized, <br /> the schedules were prepared, and the second half of the leagues will commence <br /> league play on January 2nd. Games will continue to be played at Sequoia <br /> and Woodside High Schools. <br /> Co-Ed Volleyball Leagues - Due to the closing of Sequoia High School for <br /> Christmas Vacation, the Co-Ed Volleyball League had to take a two week break. <br /> The league which plays every Wednesday night at Sequoia Girls Gym will commence <br /> play on Wednesday, June 4th. <br /> Sequoia Drop In Basketball Program - Once again during the Schools Christmas <br /> Vacation, the Park and Recreation Department opened the Boys or large gymnasium <br /> to the public for drop-in basketball . The gym was open from 11 :00 a.m. to <br /> 4 p.m. every day school was on vacation. The attendance was excellent. <br /> -8- <br />
