MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairttian Larry Schenck, Allan Rollins, Diane Pound, James Knecht, Frank Guida and Joanne Weintraub. MEMBERS ABSENT: Reuben Haynes STAFF PRESENT: Max Weeks, Director of Parks and 8ecreation; Pasco Balzarini, Park Superintendent; and Mayfred Dawson, Steno�rapher. The Chairzaan inquired concerning thp health of Cheryl Pelli.cano and Mr. Weeks reporre3 she was recovering well fram hex recent surgery. It was the wish of the Comr�iss�.o-� that flowers be sent and Mrs. Weintraub said she would be happy to purchase and deliver them. Minutes of the meeting of November 14, 1973, were approved as submitted. CQRBESPONDBNCE AND MISCELI,ASTEpUS 1. The Chairman expressed his appreciation ta Staff and the Cuttural Cou�►ission o:! learning that the Cultural Co�nission will be working with them on the Red Morr.o� Memorial. 2. The Chairanan expressed the desire of the Cougnissiun members to bring their wives and husbands to the Mayor's Christmas dinner Friday, December 14, at the Gold Platter. AGSNDA ITEMS 1. Discussion of 3valuati.on Reports of Suum�er Prot�ram _ ^ This item was leferred to the January meeting to allow members t3�ne to study t!�e reports. 2. Discussion of PrAVOSed Open Space sud Conseruation Element of the Aedwood Ci*•;� General Plan — Mr. Weeks explained the short period of time between cempletion of this plan by the Planning C�ission and the pubLic hearing. It was given .to Comanissl.on members so they mf�ht have an oppoxtuniCy to rev�ew and bring their suggestions to :the Council. Mr. Guida questioned why the Planniz�g Coaanission prepares plans on parks rather than the Park and Recreation Commission. Mr.. Weeic$ explained that the Planning Commisaion is charged with the responsibility of preparir_g alI of the elements of the General Plan. There is no intent to exclude the Park and Recreation C�ission.
