All
the properCies that back up to Dickey have access to King except the corner lot,
which has access to Roosevelt. Other access is to back yards, but not garageso
There is a precedent fnr access. There is a 27-inch storm drain ruing down
Che center. To vacate the property would mean that one-half would revert to
current ownera, Che other half to Redwood City.
There are two approaches to the problem whfch could be made: 1) To use the
12' feet; 2) To purchase the property, in which case there might be some
severance damages because of th: access to the back of lots.
An alternative would be to design the parking lot utilizing the area to ita
best advantage and granting access, This will all be dstermined as plans are
prepared for the area.
ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
The Conission discussed their continuing concern over the retention of the Hassler
property for apen space purposes. It was pointed out that the CiCy of San Carlos
was gaing to make another effoxt to obtain the property through a tax override
issue on the ballot in the spring of l974, It was also pointed out that appeals
would be made to San Mateo County to assist in the puchase o this propertq,
The Ccmmission reaffirmed their desire to urge the County to assist in whatever way
they could. A letter will be sent from the Couenission Co the County, with a copy
to the Mayor, urging County consideration in preserving the Hassler properry as open
space.
Mx. Weeks discussed the pros and cons of eliminaCing the tenai court lighting and
cutting back on field lighting during the winter months in an effort to reduce as
much as possible the use of electric power. Several coarnunities have taken s.mi.las
actions. It was agr(ed measures should be taken. The situation will be reecaluated
as the spring and suusner seasons approach.
Mr. Knecht noted for the record, uanimously agreed upon by the other members, that
the Commission would like to cammend Che Director of Parks and Becreation for his
outstanding job in upgrading the department.
Motion to adjourn was made by Mrs. Pound, seconded by Mrs. Weintraub, and unanimously
passed at 11:20 p,m.
• 5 -
