PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> FEBRUARY 1976 <br /> Redwood Shores Park Development <br /> The Bay Conservation and Development Commission has expressed a desire to <br /> review the Park Development Plans for the Marlin II Park , a portion of which <br /> falls within their review jurisdiction . The necessary application together <br /> with supporting plans and data has been prepared and forwarded to the <br /> BCDC for their review . The Commission has set a tentative time schedule <br /> for this review to be the middle of March . <br /> The Public Works Department has proceeded with their plans to construct <br /> a test area in the Marlin II Park in order to ascertain the specific problems <br /> which will be encountered with drainage , salt water intrusion , and soil <br /> conditions relative to the proposed park construction throughout the Redwood <br /> Shores area . It is felt that the data produced from this test will have a <br /> significant impact on the expenditures that will be necessary to correct <br /> salt water problems . <br /> In the meantime the consultants , Recreational Land Planners , have been <br /> instructed to proceed with preliminary construction drawings pending the <br /> approval of the Master Site Plans by the City Council and BCDC . This effort <br /> will help to expedite the working drawing phase for Dolphin Parks I , II , and <br /> III , and for Marlin II Park thus resulting in an earlier bidding date for <br /> the construction of the parks . <br /> Belmont School District Site- -Redwood Shores <br /> The agreement between the City of Redwood City and the Belmont School <br /> District for the use of their elementary school site at Redwood Shores for <br /> park and recreation purposes has been approved by all concerned and is now <br /> being processed . This agreement provides for the City to construct a turf <br /> field and a small ball diamond at city cost which will be reimbursed to the <br /> city at such time that school facilities are constructed in the area . It <br /> also provides for the use of the area for park and recreation purposes . <br /> Plans and specifications for the construction work have been completed <br /> and have been approved and bids are now being received for this work . <br /> Barring unforeseen delays construction work should be under way by the <br /> end of March . <br /> Palm Park <br /> The final review of the construction drawings and specifications for the <br /> first phase of construction for Palm Park has been made . They are now <br />
