RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> MARCH 1976 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> Supervisor : Sally Hartman <br /> Antique Show <br /> The annual Peninsula Hills Junior Women ' s Club Antique Show was held at <br /> the Community Activities Building on March 19 , 20 , and 21 . The show was <br /> well attended and was a big success . <br /> Special Interest Classes <br /> Most of the winter Special Interest Classes ended in March and registrations <br /> for the spring classes began to pick up during the last weeks of March . <br /> Spring programs begin the week of April 5 . <br /> RED MORTON COMMUNITY CENTER <br /> Wednesday Junior High Night <br /> Average attendance at this program has grown to approximately 125 per <br /> night . Activities include basketball , ping- pong , trampoline , crafts , and <br /> new games . Participation from Hoover has increased significantly . <br /> March 13 - Dodge Ridge Ski Trip <br /> Thirty- five teens left at 5 : 30 A . M . Saturday , March 13 . The weather and <br /> the snow were beautiful : After a fun day in the snow we left at 4 : 30 P . M . <br /> for dinner at Mc0onald ' s . Games and songs were done all the way home . <br /> March 20 - Hiking Through Pt . Reyes <br /> Ten high school students hiked through beautiful Pt . Reyes . This was the <br /> first trip for high school students and went quite well . The teens had <br /> a chance to develop their outdoor recreational skills and just appreciate <br /> the out- of- doors . <br /> March 27 - Volunteer Training <br /> Presently the Red Morton Center has 20 Junior High volunteers . Every six <br /> months a training session is done . Some areas reviewed are answering of <br /> the phones , taking proper messages , and meeting the public . Volunteers <br /> and staff both benefit from the training sessions , since it keeps each <br /> other in tune with the proper procedures and policies of the Department . <br /> The older volunteers set up the agenda , Get Acquainted Opening and instruc - <br /> tions . The teen staff did an excellent job in planning the training session . <br /> - 13 - <br />
