,
March 30 - Farrell ' s Ice Cream
Tuesday , March 30 , high school students had a rare treat . Farrell ' s Ice
Cream Parlor donated ice cream as prizes for high school teens . All had
a great time and really enjoyed the ice cream .
Noov e r - Noon Time Program
This month was excellent as far as activities . We had a gymnastics demon -
stration and a playday which consisted of Banana Eating Contest , Tug -of-
War , and Balloon Races . Playoffs for soccer leagues took place . There
were 12 players on a team and 95 percent of the players were Mexican . This
was the first successful program as far as having different ethnic groups
participating . Key to the success is the bi -lingual leaders and their
sincere interest for the total school . Student Council still meets every
two weeks and keeps working very closely with the recreation leaders .
Kennedy
The Recreation Department is now in the process of reorganizing the noon-
time program . Last month several craft activities went over very well .
Presentations on backpacking and explanations of Wednesday night recrea-
tion programs helped to inform the students of what the Red Morton Center
is doing for teens .
McKinley
Bad weather and not being able to use the gym slowed programs down a little
but on the other hand helped to build a better rapport with the P . E . Depart-
ment administrators . Student advisors and Student Council still meet bi -
weekly and the team effort is still strong . The school had a very success -
ful dance on March 5 , and the ping -pong tournaments and Bingo games were
finished .
-14-
