RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> JUNE 1976 <br /> Center Operations & Special Interest Classes <br /> Weekends at the Veterans Building and the Community Activities Building <br /> were all filled with wedding receptions and parties during June with the <br /> exception of June 5 , which was the Open House and Park Dedication program . <br /> The Community Activities Building housed displays for many of the special <br /> interest classes and art classes ; the Veterans Building also had some <br /> exhibits as well as performing groups in the theater and the Redwood <br /> Room ; and the Red Morton Center hosted the unveiling of the murals painted <br /> by teens as well as many performing groups and the lapidary display and <br /> demonstration . Outdoor activities featured many performers , the Youth <br /> Parade , the Coast Guard Band , the actual park dedication ceremony , pony <br /> rides , and food sales by the Lions Club , the Fun After Fifty Club , the <br /> Bobbies , the Striders and the teen volunteers . In spite of the weather <br /> the day was a big success and brought out many people . <br /> Special Interest Classes - The summer session began on June 21 , with a <br /> good turnout for most classes . The only cancellations so far have been <br /> the Brass Rubbing classes , the day time belly dancing , fly tying , knit - <br /> ting , and a movement improvisation workshop . <br /> A proposal has been submitted to the County Revenue Sharing Council <br /> requesting funds for the support of the Senior Information and Referral <br /> Service for the upcoming year . It has been proposed that the service <br /> be expanded to an 8 hour day instead of the current 4 hour day . <br /> - 10- <br />
