RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT
JUNE 1976
Center Operations & Special Interest Classes
Weekends at the Veterans Building and the Community Activities Building
were all filled with wedding receptions and parties during June with the
exception of June 5 , which was the Open House and Park Dedication program .
The Community Activities Building housed displays for many of the special
interest classes and art classes ; the Veterans Building also had some
exhibits as well as performing groups in the theater and the Redwood
Room ; and the Red Morton Center hosted the unveiling of the murals painted
by teens as well as many performing groups and the lapidary display and
demonstration . Outdoor activities featured many performers , the Youth
Parade , the Coast Guard Band , the actual park dedication ceremony , pony
rides , and food sales by the Lions Club , the Fun After Fifty Club , the
Bobbies , the Striders and the teen volunteers . In spite of the weather
the day was a big success and brought out many people .
Special Interest Classes - The summer session began on June 21 , with a
good turnout for most classes . The only cancellations so far have been
the Brass Rubbing classes , the day time belly dancing , fly tying , knit -
ting , and a movement improvisation workshop .
A proposal has been submitted to the County Revenue Sharing Council
requesting funds for the support of the Senior Information and Referral
Service for the upcoming year . It has been proposed that the service
be expanded to an 8 hour day instead of the current 4 hour day .
- 10-
