PARK DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> JUNE 1976 <br /> The Park Division personnel were largely engaged with the normal day- in , <br /> day-out maintenance work on the grounds and facilities throughout the <br /> parks . The division personnel greatly assisted with the grand opening <br /> event at Red Morton Community Park on June 5 . Considerable work was <br /> involved in setting up canopies , tables , portable stages , chairs , together <br /> with the task of keeping the area clean during the event . The cooperation <br /> of the maintenance personnel with the operational personnel of the Recrea - <br /> tion Division , assured the success of this event . <br /> On the 17th of June , a field trip was conducted by the Northern California <br /> Turf Grass Council , the purpose of which was to investigate and discuss <br /> problem areas requiring various levels of maintenance together with evalu - <br /> ating the maintenance solutions which were being employed to overcome <br /> the various problems . Visits were made to the College of San Mateo , <br /> Coyote Point and Redwood Shores area . The Park Division personnel that <br /> attended this training session were Foreman Luis Hernandez , Leadman Ivy <br /> Kitajima , Gardeners Ernest Laxague , Mike Craig , and Ward Fultcher , Park <br /> Maintenanceman Al Petron and Carl Krohn . <br /> The Island and Circle crew completed the renovation of the landscaped <br /> area between Fire Station # 1 and the Fire Inspector ' s Office . This <br /> work will significantly upgrade the appearance of the Fire Station area <br /> and will improve the overall aesthetics of the Civic Center . <br /> The assignment of CETA personnel has greatly assisted the Park Maintenance <br /> crews during this season . The extremely hot weather which has been <br /> experienced during the month of June required additional efforts to <br /> be made by maintenance personnel in order to sustain the plant material <br /> throughout the parks . The additional personnel was most helpful in this <br /> regard . <br /> - 9 - <br />
