i <br /> Mr . Weeks indicated that the street tree master plan will be ready for the <br /> August meeting . The Consultant will be present at the meeting to present <br /> the plan and answer questions . The plan will go to the City Council with <br /> whatever suggestions may be made by the Commission upon completion of the <br /> Commission ' s review . <br /> MONTHLY REPORTS : <br /> A . Departmental <br /> Motion : Commissioner Weintraub moved to accept the monthly <br /> reports , seconded by Jim Knecht . The motion carried <br /> by voice vote . <br /> B . Other <br /> 1 . Chairman Pound reported on the first conference on Community <br /> Development Block Grant Strategy Plan . A number of priorities <br /> were established . The group she was in placed Parks as No . 13 . <br /> The other group placed Parks in the No . 2 position . It was <br /> learned that fifty percent of the population of Redwood City <br /> are renters . It was felt that the Middlefield Neighborhood <br /> area is in need of physical change and park development . In <br /> Chairman Pound ' s group , the concensus was that the money would <br /> be best spent in rehabilitating homes . It was recommended that <br /> classes be started in home repair and care . The next meetings <br /> will be held from 9 : 00 - 4 : 00 on Saturdays , July 24 and August <br /> 21 , at the Veterans Memorial Building . <br /> 2 . A tour of open space facilities was planned for all Commission <br /> members for Wednesday , July 28 at 3 : 30 , starting from the Com- <br /> munity Activities Building . <br /> 3 . Committee Scheduling : <br /> a . Red Morton Committee : Monday , July 19 , 4 : 00 p . m . <br /> b . Redwood Shores Committee and adjacent neighbors of the school <br /> site meet on Thursday , July 29 at 7 : 30 p . m . at the ball dia - <br /> mond at the Belmont Elementary school site . <br /> ROUND TABLE <br /> Commissioner Knecht said that in all the years he has lived in Redwood City <br /> he has never seen the flower beds so beautiful , with which the other Commis - <br /> sioners agreed . Mr . Weeks attributed this success to the skills and hard <br /> work of the gardeners and their crews . <br /> MOTION : Commissioner Weintraub moved , seconded by Commissioner <br /> Buckhout , that the meeting be adjourned . The motion <br /> _ was accepted by voice vote and the meeting was adjourned <br /> at 10 : 30 p . m . <br /> - 4- <br />
