TO : Parks & Recreation Commission
FROM : Red Morton Community Park Committee , Chairman Knecht
DATE : July 19 , 1976
SUBJECT : REVIEW OF DICKEY STREET PARKING LOT DESIGN
The Red Morton Community Park Committee met on July 19 , 1976 . Commis -
sioners present were Knecht and Buckhout and Commissioner Aldrich was
absent . In addition to the staff , the meeting was attended by Bill
Martin and Dale Burrious of the Public Works Department .
The Committee reviewed the preliminary site plans for the Dickey Street
Parking Lot as prepared and presented by the Public Works Department .
They prepared seven different sketches of the proposed layout for the
parking lot and described each one together with the preliminary cost
estimate . The plan selected by the Committee upon recommendation of
the staff , will provide for a total of 96 parking spaces . The ingress
and egress for the parking area is well laid out and will provide for
a turnaround at McGarvey Field for loading and unloading as well as
for access through the parking lot . Additionally , a service entrance
is provided for park maintenance from the parking lot which will not
interfere with the parking and traffic flow of the parking lot . The
plan will provide for the preservation of all the mature trees which
are currently in the area and will separate the parking from McGarvey
Field with a landscaped buffer zone . The present access to the rear
of the homes on the north side of the parking lot will be continued
until such time that this access can be acquired by the City . The
entrance to the parking lot will be landscaped so as to screen the
area as much as possible as well as improve the aesthetics of the
parking lot . Lighting for the area is also being designed .
The Public Works Department will now proceed with working drawings and
specifications together with final cost estimates for this project .
-6 -
