 w , ,,
,
Commissioner Pound commented on the various suggested options for
use of State Parks Bond funds, which initially had been recommended
for the Middlefield area: a) Proceed with purchase and relocation with
additional funds from HCDA, revenue sharing, etc. ; b) Revise priority
and shift funds to Canyon Park, Friendly Acres, or Woodside Plaza
Neighborhood; c) Possible joint project with County, School District
and St. Anthony Church for athletic facility for target area (would
require expenditure outside City limits) .
Because of the recently approved Block Grant funds, there was concern
that the bond funds might be lost. Mr. Fales responded that there
had been some uncertainties, but now there is assurance that revenue
sharing funds will be available, and indicated that by Fall more
information would be forthcoming with regard to additional funds,
There was additional discussion regarding revision of priorities, and
the lack of park facilities in particular areas. In response to
question, Mr. Fales advised that the Federal and State funds need not
be spent within the City limits, although it would, of course, be
desirable from the City's standpoint.
Park development was briefly discussed, with options listed in the
following priority: Completion of Canyon Park; completion of Red
Morton Community Park; initiate development of Hetch-Hetchy right of
way; completion of Palm Park, and continuation with rehabilitation
of neighborhood parks.
During the concluding discussion, Commissioner Pound suggested an all-day
annual workshop-type meeting for all Board and Commissions of the City.
Adjournment
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Council adjourned to
the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. , this date, in the Board of Supervisors
Chambers.
The joint meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
Frances I.
