PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT. <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> NOVEMBER 1976 <br /> Redwood Shores Park Development <br /> The City Council at their meeting of November 8 , 1976 , awarded the con- <br /> tract for the construction of Dolphin Parks I , II , and III and for the <br /> first phase of Marlin II Park to D . C . Miley , Jr . of Burlingame in the <br /> amount of $243 ,830 . The pre-construction meeting with the contractor <br /> and with staff members of the Public Works Department and Parks and <br /> Recreation Department was held November 18 , at which time the various <br /> elements of the construction project were discussed . The contractor <br /> indicated that he felt work could be initiated on the job by the second <br /> week of December . The contract calls for the work to be completed in • <br /> 80 working days . <br /> Palm Park <br /> Final acceptance of the first phase of construction for Palm Park is <br /> scheduled for December 1 , 1976 . If accepted , the maintenance of the <br /> area will be taken over by the Parks Division personnel . <br /> The City Council at their meeting of November 22 , 1976 , approved addi - <br /> tional funds for the park to provide for the trees which are to be <br /> planted by the Redwood City Rotary Club as a public service project . <br /> As soon as the trees are received by the Department , arrangements will <br /> be made with the club to proceed with the planting . <br /> Mezes Park <br /> The construction work for Phase II of Mezes Park is nearing completion . <br /> The multi - purpose court area is now completed and all that remains is <br /> the completion of the restroom building . There has been some delay <br /> in the delivery of fixtures for the building and it now appears that <br /> the fixtures will be received during the month of December . The <br /> grounds are landscaped and seedbed preparation is underway for final <br /> seeding of the turf area . Some sodding has taken place in the park- <br /> way areas and the brick work has been completed around the oak trees <br /> in the parkway . <br /> Red Morton Park <br /> There has been a delay in the delivery of the prefabricated restroom <br /> and the accompanying fixtures which will be installed at Red Morton <br /> Park as a part of the Mezes Park contract . In the meantime , the <br /> contractor has installed the landscaping and is making preparations <br /> for utility hookups . Current schedules call for the structure to be <br /> delivered during the month of December . <br /> -8- <br />
