AGENDA ITEM 3 . League of California Cities Report - Chairperson Pound <br /> Chairperson Pound reported that she had returned from the League of <br /> California Cities Meeting with a tape of a session she had attended <br /> which dealt with the topic of Leisure and Cultural Awareness . She <br /> indicated that she believed it would be beneficial if all Commission <br /> members had a chance to listen to the tape and said that it would be <br /> available upon request . <br /> Chairperson Pound further stated that she had received considerable <br /> information with respect to available funding for cultural arts pro- <br /> grams . Mr. Weeks asked that the information be referred to staff for <br /> review and evaluation . <br /> Chairperson Pound stated that she found the most valuable informa- <br /> tion received at the league meeting came from the interchange of ideas <br /> and discussion with people from other cities and especially with people <br /> from Redwood City . She said that this served to strengthen her belief <br /> that there would be a tremendous value in a workshop that included the <br /> Council and all Commissioners , Board members and Department Heads . <br /> REPORTS <br /> REPORT ITEM 1 . Open Space Committee Report <br /> MOTION : Commissioner Weintraub moved to accept the <br /> Open Space Committee Report as previously <br /> corrected , seconded by Commissioner Buck- <br /> hout . The motion carried unanimously by <br /> voice vote . <br /> REPORT ITEM 2 . Monthly Reports <br /> Commissioner Weintraub inquired as to how the Dysphasic Children ' s <br /> Recreation Program got started . Mr . Paulson replied that Center <br /> Supervisor Kucala had been working with a Therapeutic Recreation <br /> graduate from Bringham Young University who had been the major <br /> force in getting the program started at Hawes School . <br /> Mr . Weeks indicated that he had received the program booklet for the <br /> California and Pacific Souchwest Parks and Recreation Conference in <br /> Anaheim on February 26 to March 1 , 1977 . He said that normally , two <br /> Commissioners would attend the conference , but that he would have to <br /> review the Departmental Conference Budget to determine if sufficient <br /> funds were available to send two persons . Chairperson Pound indicated <br /> that she would like to attend inasmuch as she has never attended the <br /> California Parks and Recreation Society Conference . Discussion ensued <br /> with respect to the desirability of allowing new Commissioners to <br /> attend the Conference . Commissioner Buckhout was selected to also <br /> -4- <br />
