CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting June 5 , 1975 The meeting was opened by Mr . Robert Buickerood , Chairman , at 7 : 45 , p . m. , in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City. COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Mr. Buickerood , Chairman ; Marcia Poncia , Vice Chairman ; Annette Howitt , and Alice Kennedy. COMMISSIONERS ABSENT : Jean Groberg , Joyce Hiscox , and Fernando Vega . GUESTS : Mrs . Gladys Woodhams , Redwood City Heritage Association Mr, William Nemoyten , Director of San Mateo County Arts Council Mr . Karl Vollmayer , Redwood City Librarian MINUTES of the meeting of May 1 were approved with the change in Item 4 , Library Project , of ' SEATA" to CETA. " MINUTE ORDER #75 -89 of the City Council re no smoking in Council meetings was read and the Commission agreed to follow the same concept in its meetings . CORRESPONDENCE : 1 . The Harris Report : Commissioners had received copies of " Californians and The Arts . " • 2 . Letter from San Mateo County Choral Society thanking the Commission for its support of their recent concert 3 . Letter from San Mateo County Fair and Exposition Center extending an invitation to participate in the 1975 Crafts and Arts Exhibition and to be hosts and hostesses Satur- day , July 28 and August 9 . The new Commissioner , Mrs . Alice No Kennedy , was introduced . She is a writer who teaches Creative Writing for the Sequoia Union High School District at the Menlo Park Recreation Center , Fremont High School District at Cupertino , and College of Notre Dame in Belmont . Her interests include Music and Drama , having performed in each field . She was one of the charter members of Friends of the Library and is still active in that group . The Chairman then recognized Mr . Vollmayer , who said the Library project and mural wall will apparently be held over until the next year as June 30 , the cutoff date for the fiscal year , is too soon for contracts to be. let.
