CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> October 2 , 1975 <br /> Chairman Hobert Buickerood opened the meeting in the Conference <br /> Room of the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , <br /> Redwood City , at 7 : 40 , p . m . <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Robert Buickerood , Chairman , Marcia <br /> Poncia , Vice Chairman ; Alice Kennedy , <br /> and Annette Howitt <br /> COMMISSIONER ABSENT : remand () Vega <br /> STAJF PRESENT : Max Weeks , Director of Parks & Recreation <br /> Nayfred Dawson , Recording Secretary <br /> GUESTS : Mrs . Joan Jordan , Owner of Jordan Arts <br /> Mr . Karl Vollmayer , Redwood City Librarian <br /> The guests were introduced and lvr . Vollmayer announced that the <br /> Peninsula Hills Women ' s Club is printing a calendar . Proceeds <br /> from sale of the calendar at 02 . 00 apiece will be given to <br /> support the Schellens Collection , The oomen ' s Club is conduct- <br /> ing an art competition in the Elementary Schools . Twelve winning <br /> selections will be placed on the calendar along with the name of <br /> a merchant who donates 4200 to defray cost of the printing . <br /> Mrs . Poncia said she had been approached by one of the Women ' s <br /> Club members and she had committed two Commission members to <br /> serve as judges for the competition , which will take place on <br /> Saturday , October 5 , at Lincoln School . Mrs . Poncia and ivlr . <br /> Buickerood will serve . <br /> Mr . Vollmayer said the Library project has now been started . <br /> The Chairman then called on Mrs . Jordan , who said she is inter- <br /> ested in a project of the Smithsonian Institute : to make an <br /> inventory of American paintings done before 1914 . To date , the <br /> only cataloguing of American art has been done on the East Coast . <br /> The Institute requests that a photograph of each painting go with <br /> its description to be put in their permanent files . Mr . Bill <br /> Haney , an art restorer living in Lafayette , is interested in <br /> helping with the project . It could be publicized from San <br /> Francisco to San Jose , with flyers in the downtown stores , and <br /> possibly notices could be enclosed with the water bills . It <br /> could be set up as a one -day affair and , if necessary, be carried <br /> over to the second day . <br /> MINUTES of the meeting of September 4 were approved on motion <br /> of Mrs . Poncia , seconded by Mrs . Kennedy . <br />
