CIVIC CULTURAL COMISSION Minutes of Meeting November 6 , 1975 the meeting was called to order by Chairman Robert Buickerood at 7 : 40 , p . m . , in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Fobert Buickerood , Chairman ; Marcia Poncia , Vice Chairman ; Annette Ho'witt , Zelda Bergman , and John Krueger . Poncia , seconded by Mrs . Howitt . The Chairman then introduced the new Commission members , Mrs . Bergman and Mr . Krueger , and welcomed the guests . Mr . Vollnuayer reported on the progress of the new approach to the Library . He also reported on the Bicentennial Calendar being pro - duced by the Peninsula Hills Junior women ' s Club . This is of great interest because proceeds from its sale will help support the Scheliens collection , which will require a great deal of work to sort , catalog , and house . mr . Paulson then spoke about the Historical Landmark Element of the Redwood City General Plan . He said the City l'ianager had re - quested that the Commissioners meet again in about two weeks , after studying the summary , to approve or offer recommendations . He then introduced Jeff Rhoads , who gave background on the efforts toward historical preservation which have been made and are proposed for the City , and setting forth goals and standards . He said a point rating system has been developed and guidelines drawn . It is pro - posed that the Cultural Commission study and recommend sites to be considered by the City Council as historical landmark sites . The Element also contains proposals for changes in the building codes to allow a more realistic approach to restoration of historical buildings . HCDA Funds ( Federal building grant to assist cities in historical site development ) will be available to help in the implementation of this plan .
