Poncia , seconded by Mrs . Howitt . <br /> The Chairman then introduced the new Commission members , Mrs . Bergman <br /> and Mr . Krueger , and welcomed the guests . <br /> Mr . Vollnuayer reported on the progress of the new approach to the <br /> Library . He also reported on the Bicentennial Calendar being pro - <br /> duced by the Peninsula Hills Junior women ' s Club . This is of great <br /> interest because proceeds from its sale will help support the <br /> Scheliens collection , which will require a great deal of work to <br /> sort , catalog , and house . <br /> mr . Paulson then spoke about the Historical Landmark Element of <br /> the Redwood City General Plan . He said the City l'ianager had re - <br /> quested that the Commissioners meet again in about two weeks , after <br /> studying the summary , to approve or offer recommendations . He then <br /> introduced Jeff Rhoads , who gave background on the efforts toward <br /> historical preservation which have been made and are proposed for <br /> the City , and setting forth goals and standards . He said a point <br /> rating system has been developed and guidelines drawn . It is pro - <br /> posed that the Cultural Commission study and recommend sites to be <br /> considered by the City Council as historical landmark sites . The <br /> Element also contains proposals for changes in the building codes <br /> to allow a more realistic approach to restoration of historical <br /> buildings . HCDA Funds ( Federal building grant to assist cities <br /> in historical site development ) will be available to help in the <br /> implementation of this plan . <br />
