Civ1C CULTURAL OOMi44ISSION <br /> Minutes of fleeting <br /> November 6 , 1975 Page 2 <br /> A special meeting was set for Thursday , November 20 , at 7 : 30 p . m . , <br /> in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building <br /> tvlr . Krueger suggested the possibility of developing murals for <br /> the walls of the Municipal Services Center . <br /> REPORTS : <br /> 1 . a , Mrs . Poncia reported that the Downtown Action Committee <br /> is anticipating that the Commission will sponsor a <br /> Downtown Spring Art Show . flrs . #iowitt remarked that <br /> the Bay Area Artists Group schedules its shows early <br /> and should be contacted very soon if vie wish them to <br /> e xhibit . Mr . duickerood deferred further discussion <br /> o n this to the special meeting November 20 . <br /> b . She said use of the blue tiles between the Riviera <br /> Delicatessen and Ryan ' s Drug Store to simulate Redwood <br /> Creek which formerly ran there had been approved but <br /> they had not yet been installed . <br /> c . ivlrs . Poncia said the cost of installing t"ir . Nissen ' s <br /> sculpture had gone up to approximately x$10 , 000 , ac - <br /> cording to Mr . Dick Pusich , Director of Public works . <br /> The Downtown Association has placed a 4$2 , 500 limit on <br /> their donation toward the realization of this project . <br /> it was the consensus of the Commission that every <br /> e ffort should be made to have the fountain installed <br /> and that a public drive for funds should be promoted <br /> if necessary to achieve it . <br /> d . Marcia announced that on November 22 , Redwood City <br /> will have an old - fashioned high-wheel bike race , <br /> sponsored by the Downtown Association . <br /> 2 . Mrs . Kennedy ' s written report was recognized and discussion <br /> on it deferred to the next regular meeting . <br /> CORRESPONDENCE : <br /> 1 . Jacque Barzaghi , Special Assistant to the Governor , wrote <br /> to the Commission , requesting suggestions , ideas and/or <br /> recommendations concerning the most pressing needs of the <br /> Arts Community in California . After receipt of community <br /> proposals , representatives of local arts groups will be <br /> invited to the Governor ' s office to discuss their ideas <br /> in detail . <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10 : 15 , p . m . <br /> ROBERT BUICKEROUD , Chairman <br />
