CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes for Special Meeting <br /> NOVEMBER 20 , 1975 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Robert Buickerood at 7 : 55 PM <br /> in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt <br /> Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> Commissioners Present : Robert Buickerood , Chairman ; Marcia Poncia , <br /> Vice Chairman ; Alice Kennedy , Fernando Vega <br /> Commissioners Absent : Annette Howitt , Zelda Bergman , John Krueger <br /> Staff Present : Max Weeks , Director Parks & Recreation ; <br /> Sally Hartman , Recreation Supervisor . <br /> Guests Present : Karl Vollmayer , City Librarian <br /> he minutes of the meeting of November 6 , 1975 were approved on motion of <br /> Poncia , seconded by Mrs . Kennedy . <br /> AGENDA ITEM I - Spring Art Show <br /> The Chairman suggested that several dates be set aside for the proposed <br /> Spring Art Show and that the dates be investigated with the respect to the <br /> availability of artist groups as well as other activities in the downtown <br /> area . Dates that were suggested were April 24 and 25 , and May 8 and 9 , <br /> 1976 . It was agreed that Mrs . Poncia would make initial investigation with <br /> respect to various contacts with the art groups as well as with traveling <br /> art groups concerning these dates . This information will be passed on to <br /> the subcommittee which will be appointed to carry out the planning for this <br /> proposed project . A report will be given to the Commission at their <br /> December meeting . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2 - Letter to Special Assistant to the Governor Regarding <br /> California Arts Council <br /> The Chairman reviewed the background leading up to the appointment of the <br /> new California Arts Council together with many of the events which have <br /> taken place in the past year or so relative to this Council . He explained <br /> that the California Arts Council is asking for direction from the various <br /> art groups throughout the state so they can better determine their future <br /> role with respect to their assistance to the cultural arts interest in the <br /> state . The Chairman also discussed the various funding programs which will <br /> become available utilizing federal funding as well as state funding for <br /> assistance in the cultural arts programs for communities as well as for <br /> individuals . <br />
