R 3 <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> March 4 , 1975 <br /> The meeting was opened by Chairman George Dragan at 7 : 40 , p . m. , <br /> in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City. <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : George Dragan , Chairman ; Jean Groberg , <br /> Annette Howitt , Marcia Poncia , Joyce Hiscox , and Robert Buickero od . <br /> COMMISSIONER ABSENT : Fernando Vega . <br /> STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT : Max Weeks , Director of Parks & Recreation ; <br /> and Mayfred Dawson , Stenographer . <br /> GUESTS PRESENT : Mrs . Joan Smith and Mr . Karl Vollmayer , Redwood <br /> City Librarian . <br /> Joyce Hiscox was welcomed to the Commission . <br /> Mrs . Joan Smith attended the meeting in connection with a class <br /> she is taking at Notre Dame College called " Social Foundations . " <br /> She is an Arts Major with a class in Quilting and wishes to assist <br /> the Commission with the Quilting Show . The Commission members <br /> expressed their appreciation of Mrs . Smith ' s offer of assistance <br /> and , to accommodate her need to leave the meeting early , Mr . Dragan <br /> called for the report by Mrs . Groberg on the Quilting Show . <br /> We have had newspaper coverage in the REDWOOD CITY TRIBUNE ( two <br /> articles ) , MENLO PARK RECORDER , PALO ALTO TIMES , and SAN CARLO S <br /> ENQUIRER; and in SUNSET MAGAZINE . There will be displays in the <br /> Library in April and a bulletin board display at the Community <br /> Activities Building . <br /> Arrangements will be made to have a, security guard at the show . <br /> Details will be finalized later in the month. The deadline for <br /> applications is April 15 . <br /> MINUTES of the informal meeting of February 4 were approved as <br /> submitted . <br /> Mr . Dragan then called for Report Item 3 on the agenda . Mr . Weeks <br /> said he had met with Dr . Marietta Tassos of the San Mateo Choral <br /> Society and another member of the group . They said the show in <br /> May is shaping up well . Tickets are ready to be printed . They <br /> asked whether tickets might be sold at the High School . They <br /> also plan to give a group of complimentary tickets to the Music <br /> Department at Sequoia . Joyce will find out whether Mrs . Balsamo <br /> would be willing to sell some tickets prior to the concert . They <br /> will also be available at the various music stores and at the <br /> Community Activities Building . A flyer and posters will be put <br /> out. Printing will be handled by the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation . <br />
