CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION Minutes of Meeting September 2 , 1976 Chairman Marcia Poncia opened the meeting at 7 : 45 , p . m . , in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Marcia Poncia , Chairman ; Alice Ken- nedy , Annette Howitt , Kay Mears , Zelda Bergman , and John Krueger COMMISSIONER ABSENT : Nicole McKay STAFF PRESENT : Max weeks , Director of Public Works Sally Hartman , Recreation Director Mayfred Dawson , Recording Secretary GUESTS : Mr , William Nemoyten , Director of San Mateo County Arts Council , and Miss Jean Nixon , Artist MOTION : Upon motion of John Krueger , seconded by Alice Kennedy , minutes of the meeting of July l were approved as mailed * Jean Nixon presented her preliminary sketches for the library mural , which were generally well received by the Commission * She indicated that it might take more time than she had origi - nally anticipated to complete the mural , but the Commission assured her that she should not feel pressured by time * AGENDA ITEM 1 : Mr . Nemoyten gave an overview of the San Mateo County Arts Council . Forty- eight organizations are now affili - ated and a mailing list of some 3 , 500 persons has been developed . They have received some funding from various businesses and are working to develop this source of underwriting the work of the Council in addition to County funding and revenue from member- ships . The Council is willing to assist member groups with mailings and is eager to have contributions to the Calendar . Deadline for Calendar announcements is the 7th of the month preceding month of publication * The Council is in the process of opening its first cultural center , at Twin Pines Manor , 1225 Ralston Avenue , Belmont , Opera Lunch programs have been sponsored for the last three summers and have been well received .
