CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> September 2 , 1976 <br /> Chairman Marcia Poncia opened the meeting at 7 : 45 , p . m . , in <br /> the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Marcia Poncia , Chairman ; Alice Ken- <br /> nedy , Annette Howitt , Kay Mears , <br /> Zelda Bergman , and John Krueger <br /> COMMISSIONER ABSENT : Nicole McKay <br /> STAFF PRESENT : Max weeks , Director of Public Works <br /> Sally Hartman , Recreation Director <br /> Mayfred Dawson , Recording Secretary <br /> GUESTS : Mr , William Nemoyten , Director of <br /> San Mateo County Arts Council , and <br /> Miss Jean Nixon , Artist <br /> MOTION : Upon motion of John Krueger , seconded by Alice <br /> Kennedy , minutes of the meeting of July l were <br /> approved as mailed * <br /> Jean Nixon presented her preliminary sketches for the library <br /> mural , which were generally well received by the Commission * <br /> She indicated that it might take more time than she had origi - <br /> nally anticipated to complete the mural , but the Commission <br /> assured her that she should not feel pressured by time * <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 : Mr . Nemoyten gave an overview of the San Mateo <br /> County Arts Council . Forty- eight organizations are now affili - <br /> ated and a mailing list of some 3 , 500 persons has been developed . <br /> They have received some funding from various businesses and are <br /> working to develop this source of underwriting the work of the <br /> Council in addition to County funding and revenue from member- <br /> ships . <br /> The Council is willing to assist member groups with mailings <br /> and is eager to have contributions to the Calendar . Deadline <br /> for Calendar announcements is the 7th of the month preceding <br /> month of publication * <br /> The Council is in the process of opening its first cultural <br /> center , at Twin Pines Manor , 1225 Ralston Avenue , Belmont , <br /> Opera Lunch programs have been sponsored for the last three <br /> summers and have been well received .
