r <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> February 5 , 1976 <br /> Chairman Robert Buickerood opened the meeting at 7 : 40 , p . m. , <br /> in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Robert Buickerood , Chairman <br /> Marcia Poncia , /ice Chairman <br /> John Krueger <br /> Alice Kennedy <br /> Zelda Bergman <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT : Annette Howitt <br /> Fernando Vega <br /> STAFF PRESENT : Max Meeks , Director of Parics <br /> and Recreation <br /> Sally Hartman , Recreation Supervisor <br /> Mayfred Dawson , Recording Secretary <br /> GUEST : Karl Vollmayer , Librarian <br /> MINUTES of the meeting of January 8 were approved as submitted . <br /> CORRESPONDENCE : Communication from the California Arts Council <br /> indicating the new membership of the Arts Council , various bro - <br /> chures , and announcement of the San Francisco Area Combined Bottle <br /> Collectors ' Show and Sale to be held February 10 and 11 . <br /> The Commission enjoyed a film brought by i" rs . Kennedy : " A View <br /> from There , " the story of Redwood City taken and produced by <br /> Carol Levene , assisted by Richard Schellens and others . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 - Arts & Craft Show : Mrs . Poncia reported that a <br /> committee meeting had been held with Annette , Zelda , Alice , and <br /> herself present . It was decided that square -dance , folk-dance , <br /> and strolling musical groups could be included and wine tasting <br /> be eliminated from the show . Mrs . Poncia is investigating the <br /> possibility of using part of a vacant building for singing groups <br /> which would be better heard in an indoor setting . <br /> Pars . Kennedy said there are so many activities taking place in <br /> May that we might request the Council to declare the month of <br /> May as Redwood City ' s Festival Month . In addition to the Arts <br /> and Crafts Show , there will be the Cinco de Mayo celebration , <br /> the Art and Flower Show , Redwood City Community Theater ' s pro - <br /> duction of " 6 Rms Riv Vu , " and bike racing . <br /> Mrs . Poncia mentioned that the Downtown lhierchants had requested <br /> that the dates for the Arts and Crafts Show be changed to the <br /> weekend of May 31 , to coincide with the bike races . After dis - <br /> cussion , the consensus of the group was that the dates should be <br /> kept as originally planned . <br />
