CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> February 5 , 1976 Page 2 <br /> Mr . Weeks announced that he will request the City Council ' s ap - <br /> proval of this event . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 2 - Library Mural : Mrs . Kennedy said a Chairman of <br /> the student group which will be working on the project has been <br /> appointed and will be in contact with Mr . Vollmayer . <br /> AGENDA ITEM - Sculpture -Fountain Prodect : Firs . Poncia said <br /> the Downtown Merchants Association is looking for ways to fund <br /> the project . Mr . Weeks said the City has received a letter from <br /> the Association withdrawing its support of the fountain . He sug- <br /> gested other possible sources . <br /> REPORTS : <br /> STAFF : <br /> 1 . Mrs . Hartman said the young people at the Red Morton <br /> Center are interested in doing some kind of murals on <br /> the walls at the gym . They would like to work with <br /> the schools ( both Jr , High and High ) and might use <br /> the theme of recreation through the years . They will <br /> welcome any ideas the Commission may have with regard <br /> to this project . Mr . Buickerood said that March may <br /> be designated by Governor Brown as Youth Art Month , <br /> stimulating arts activities in schools . <br /> 2 . Mrs . Hartman reported on a recent meeting attended by <br /> herself and Mrs . Kennedy of the County Bicentennial <br /> Committee . Sally Morrison has been named the Sister <br /> City Bicentennial Chairman . <br /> Pete Hughes , Libbie Miles , and Jim DeBenedetti are <br /> seeking a dynamic project for Lathrop House . Mary <br /> Ellen Hoffman and Mrs . Kennedy are contacting the schools <br /> to learn what is being done by them in relation to the <br /> Bicentennial . <br /> Mr . Buickerood mentioned that the Bicentennial Year is <br /> not over until December and so there is still time for <br /> promotion of activities such as the mural painting . <br /> 3 . Mrs . Kennedy said the Fair Oaks Multicultural Arts Com- <br /> mittee has set three objectives for the year : 1 ) Multi - <br /> cultural Arts Festival , 2 ) Producing a mural of some <br /> kind , and 3 ) holding art exhibits . She said they plan <br /> to include a member of the Civic Cultural Commission <br /> on their committee . <br />
