CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> March 4 , 1976 <br /> The meeting was opened by Chairman Robert Buickerood at 7 : 30 , p . m . , <br /> in the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Robert Buickerood , Chairman ; Annette Howitt , <br /> Alice Kennedy , Zelda Bergman , and John Krueger . <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT : Vice - Chairman Marcia Poncia and Fernando Vega . <br /> STAFF PRESENT : Max weeks , Director of Parks and Recreation ; Sally <br /> Hartman , Recreation Supervisor ; and Mayfred Dawson , Recording <br /> Secretary . <br /> GUESTS : . Karl Vollmayer , Redwood City Librarian <br /> Eric Dremann , Student <br /> MINUTES of the meeting of February 5 were approved as submitted . <br /> CORRESPONDENCE : Various brochures and announcements . A communi - <br /> cation from the Redwood City Heritage Association indicating that <br /> they wish to have the restoration of the Lathrop House named as a <br /> City Bicentennial Project and would like to have the Civic Cultural <br /> Commission recommend this to the Council . Mr . Weeks suggested that <br /> this request be referred to the Bicentennial Committee . Mrs . Kennedy , <br /> a member of the Bicentennial Committee , said Mr . Pete Hughes , President <br /> of the Peninsula Celebration Association , had requested a list of items <br /> that are needed by Lathrop House , together with an estimate of their <br /> cost . Mr . Krueger said he believes it would be appropriate for the <br /> Commission to indicate to the City Council that the Lathrop House <br /> is a beautiful example of architecture of the period , but that it <br /> is not within the Civic Cultural Commission ' s jurisdiction to recom- <br /> mend that the project be considered an official Bicentennial Project . <br /> A letter will be forwarded to the Heritage Association conveying this <br /> information . <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 - Arts and Crafts Show : Because of Mrs . Poncia ' s absence , <br /> this item was held over to the next meeting . Mr . Weeks said that when <br /> the Council approves the show , an agreement between the City and <br /> Mrs . Beam will be drafted . There has been one newspaper article , <br /> which was intended to notify local artists and musical groups . <br /> Further planning will be done by the Committee with Mrs . Beam . <br /> Eric Dremann suggested that the high schools might be a source of <br /> musical groups . <br /> AGENDA ITEm 2 Library Mural : Mr . Vollmayer indicated that he had <br /> not heard from the Canada students who were to contact him with re - <br /> gard to the Library Mural . Mrs . Kennedy will call Mr . Heidsick re - <br /> garding this . <br />
