• <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Special Meeting <br /> September 15 , 1977 <br /> The meeting was opened by Chairman McKay at 8 : 00 , p . m . , in <br /> the Conference Room of the Community Activities Building , <br /> 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT : Chairman Nicole McKay <br /> Marcia Poncia <br /> Kay Mears <br /> John Krueger <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT : Alice Kennedy , Michael Graycar , <br /> I vacancy <br /> STAFF PRESENT : Max Weeks , Director of Parks & <br /> Recreation <br /> Sally Hartman , Recreation Supervisor <br /> Mayfred Dawson , Recording Secretary <br /> GUESTS PRESENT : Miss Jean Nixon , Artist <br /> Mr . Karl Vollmayer , Redwood City Librarian <br /> Mr . Fernando Vega <br /> Mr . William Rhodes <br /> AGENDA ITEM : Presentation of the Library Mural Concept by <br /> Miss Jean Nixon <br /> Mr , Weeks gave a brief history of the mural and then Chairman <br /> McKay introduced the artist , Miss Jean Nixon , who presented the <br /> mural concept . <br /> After the guests had left the meeting , Mr . Weeks said Mr . Voll -- <br /> mayer had suggested that perhaps the Library Board should view <br /> the concept before a final decision is made , and that thereafter <br /> a budget would need to be developed with Miss Nixon , <br /> Mr . Krueger suggested that it might be of assistance to the <br /> Library Board to have an expression of approval from this Com- <br /> mission and he then made the following motion : <br /> MOTION : The motion was made by Commissioner Krueger , seconded <br /> by Commissioner Mears , and unanimously carried , that <br /> the Commission express approval of the design and <br /> development of the mural as it appears at this stage <br /> and recommend that we proceed with the project , <br /> It was suggested that a color photograph be taken of the design <br /> to show the Council when the project is presented for approval , <br /> There being no further business , the meeting was adjourned at <br /> 9 . 30 , p . m. <br /> NICOLE McKAY , Chairman <br />
