J <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> September 1 , 1977 Page 5 <br /> REPORTS : ( font ' d ) <br /> 2 . Multicultural Arts Council Festival and Activities : ( font ' d ) <br /> to the Commission and the Commission ' s recommendations <br /> to the City Council for the project . Commissioner <br /> McKay indicated that the mural would be a fine piece <br /> of art work and thought it would be highly accepted by <br /> the community° She indicated the artist was being paid <br /> by a special fund from the San Mateo County Arts Council <br /> and that the materials and supplies were being donated . <br /> Commissioner McKay further reported that she felt the <br /> Multicultural Arts Festival which was conducted at the <br /> Fair Oaks Community Center was successful and truly <br /> represented the multicultural art interests throughout <br /> the community . She then displayed several T- shirts <br /> which had been prepared for the festival which promote <br /> the multicultural arts activities of the community . <br /> These T- shirts are to be sold , which will help to defray <br /> the expenses of the festival . <br /> 3 . San Mater, County Floral Fiesta : <br /> Chairman Poncia reported that the Cultural Commissioners ' <br /> participation as hosts and hostesses at the Fiesta was <br /> not necessary this year in that there were more than <br /> enough volunteers to handle the situation . <br /> 0 TIlER: <br /> 1 . Lea _ue of California Cities Convention : <br /> Chairman Poncia reported that she and Commissioner <br /> Kennedy had been registered to attend the League of <br /> California Cities Convention in San Francisco , commencing <br /> Sunday , September 25 , 1977 . Upon reviewing the proposed <br /> programming for the League convention , it was felt by <br /> the Commissioners that the program did not offer enough <br /> areas of interest in the cultural arts and therefore <br /> they felt their attendance would not be worth while in <br /> that the California Alliance of Arts Councils Conference <br /> was being held the same weekend in the same general <br /> vicinity of the League conference and it would be better <br /> to attend the Alliance of Arts Councils meetings . It <br /> was requested , therefore , that refunds be requested from <br />
