•
Mr . Gonzales moved , seconded by Mr . Soderer, that the jab specifications as
amended be accepted by the Committee . A copy of the job specifications as
amended , is attached at the end of these Minutes . The 'notion carried by
unanimous vote .
Mrs . Henderson expressed her views on the recruitment process , saying that
some of this should be left in the hands of the staff, that there should be a
time deadline , and that a sub-committee should be appointed to review the
actions of the staff and to bring six to ten candidates to the Committee as a
whole to be interviewed . City Manager Fales stated that the Committee could
expect 50 or 100 applicants . Mr . Gonzales and Mr . Moriguchi suggested that the
staff screen the applications down to 15 or 20 and that a sub -committee narrow
this further to around five for the Committee . City Manager Fales thought that
30-45 days was a reasonable application period . Mrs . Henderson preferred the
shorter period of 30 days . Mr . Floyd said that applicants who are rejected
early should be notified of this so that they don ' t continue to keep their
hopes up . Mrs . Henderson thought that a letter should go out to all applicants
after the closing date , acknowledging receipt of the application and letting
them know what the up-coming process would be . The Committee decided to keep
the application period open from November 1, 1971, to 5 : 00 P .M. on
December 6, 1971 .
The meeting was adjourned at 8 : 30 A .M. .
•
MINUTES .
