(unclassified) <br /> • <br /> DEFINI.'l'ION • <br /> Under the general supervision of the Planning Director , the Community <br /> Redevelopment and HIousing Specialist is responsible for inewlementing, <br /> a . . • administering, coordinating and evaluating community. activities in accordance <br /> with policies established by the Redevelopment Agency in at manner which will <br /> maximize community support of activities in housing redeieiopment and do <br /> related work as required. <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES . • <br /> Duties shall include assisting in the assessment of housing and social planning <br /> needs of the community and of the project (s) area •(s) ; consultation with and <br /> participation in programs of community groups, organizations, agencies and. <br /> committees ; assisting in the development of advisory neighborhood organizations <br /> in project areas and in the community; implementation of public information <br /> • programs ; assist in planning for community organization activities to further <br /> redevelopment objectives within the community, and enlist citizens participation <br /> and support of agency programs ; makes recommendations in the planning of <br /> agency activities ; works with citizen committees, builders, other City depart - <br /> ments and other public and quasi -public organizations and agencies in assess - <br /> ment, location and development of community projects ; assists in planning <br /> and developing projects related to social planning and obtains community - <br /> participation in such projects ; works with any group which could serve as a <br /> potential resource for redevelopment activities and support ; serves as coordinator <br /> of social planning to City staff and the community; represents the City in various <br /> community groups, participates actively in order to keep abreast of other <br /> community programs ; creates and maintains a positive image age for the purposes <br /> and activities of redevelopment; prepares required reports . <br /> - <br /> REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES . <br /> Ability to assume responsibility, work and communicate effectively with <br /> community groups, citizen committees, builders, City persc: nel, and other <br /> organizations and agencies concerned with housing redeve ioi ces- ent ; ability to <br /> assemble and analyze data; speak and write effectively; ability to grasp <br /> technical knowledge related to redevelopment and housing- and a knowledge of <br /> social planning goals and objectives . <br /> Possession of tact, adaptability, good judgement, and the ability to analyze <br /> situations and adopt or recommend an effective course of action. <br /> EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION <br /> . Equivalent to graduation from college with a degree in soLio-:—. y urban planning, <br /> or related field and considerable progressively responsible full-time paid <br /> administrative experience reflecting increasing responsiblli L .r for the <br /> planning, directing and implementating of social or comman t programs; <br /> or any equivalent combination of experience and training provides the <br /> required knowledge, skill and ability. <br />
