Presentation - North Fair Oaks Forward: Middlefield Road Redesign - <br /> Peggy Jensen, Deputy County Manager, San Mateo County <br /> Peggy Jensen made a presentation on the plans for this area (on file). <br /> One Council Member said this warms his heart since this area has such <br /> huge potential and it impacts residents. This Council Member thanked <br /> Supervisor Slocum for all the work and opined this is a real improvement to <br /> the quality of life of the residents. This Council Member also noted this <br /> replicated the City Council's efforts and what it is doing and has been doing <br /> in this area. Vice Mayor Foust said that it is good to work together and there <br /> are economies of scale when the County and the City are on the same page. <br /> Ms. Jensen said that communication is open and ongoing. Another Council <br /> Member thanked Supervisor Slocum and his staff for the communication and <br /> hard work. <br /> B. Report from Kat Lion, City representative to the Board of Trustees, San <br /> Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District <br /> Ms. Lion provided a brief report on recent changes; she elaborated on the <br /> West Nile Virus occurrences on birds this summer. Thus far, there have <br /> been no human cases of the virus. She also spoke about another tropical <br /> disease. Regarding personnel changes she said that the Board voted to not <br /> renew the District Manager's contract and he will retire beginning September <br /> 1, 2014. She provided details on the recruitment process. The District will <br /> be hiring a new Public Health and Outreach Communicator to reach out to <br /> schools and to revamp the website.
