Recognition of Barry Jolette, Community Partner, San Mateo Credit <br /> Union -Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> Mayor Gee presented Mr. Jolette with a proclamation and recognized his <br /> many community initiatives and awards received through the years. He <br /> thanked Mr. Jolette for being a community partner with the vision to create <br /> programs that help the community in general. Mr. Jolette shared his <br /> emotion for this recognition and acknowledged his wife in the audience and <br /> staff from the San Mateo Credit Union (Ms. Connie Paniagua). Mr. John <br /> Beiers, representing the Board of Directors from the San Mateo Credit <br /> Union, was also in attendance. <br /> B. Check Presentation by Pamela Estes, President of the Parks and Arts <br /> Foundation to the City of Redwood City <br /> Ms. Estes, President of the Parks and Arts Foundation Board, thanked many <br /> community stakeholders like Council Member Barbara Pierce, Steve Penna, <br /> Beth Mostovoy and Lucas Wilder for their time and involvement. She added <br /> that the check for $25,276.83 is for the 2015 Music on the Square program. <br /> Mayor Gee emphasized Council's gratitude to the Board and he was most <br /> appreciative of its generosity and initiative. <br /> C. Proclamation Recognizing Fire Prevention Week -James F. Skinner, <br /> Fire Chief- Jeffrey Gee, Mayor <br /> The Mayor presented the proclamation to Fire Chief Skinner who in turn <br /> provided some tips on safety and reiterated the importance of being <br /> prepared. <br /> D. Swearing In of One Library Board Member Appointee - Silvia <br /> Vonderlinden, City Clerk <br /> City Clerk Vonderlinden swore in Ms. Janet Lawson. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Gwen Minor spoke about an oak tree which is going to be taken down. She alluded to a <br /> petition with 250 signatures opposing the cutting of the tree. She loves the tree and <br /> believes these organisms are monuments, and once gone, it can never be replaced. <br /> She requested due process, including time to grief, and she opined that the city could <br /> benefit from recalibrating its approach on this matter. <br /> Sue Lopez spoke about looking at the notices put up regarding the cutting down of the <br /> tree and how she drives by it every day.
