He noted <br /> that the majority of the people care about this tree and he would like more time for <br /> people to say good-bye to the tree. <br /> Stephen Dellinger is requesting that the City perform a survey of his property because <br /> some people have claimed that he has hazardous materials at his location. He opines <br /> that this area is City property because it is adjacent to the Fair Oaks Community Center <br /> and he expressed concern that may cause the Center to shut down. <br /> Mathew Self said he is a resident and Manager of Box. He is looking forward to the <br /> move to Redwood City, because he feels that it would be a great fit for the company in <br /> that the City is transit oriented, which fits Box's employee base, the environment, and its <br /> amenities like cafes, restaurants, cinemas, etc. He said in turn his company will bring <br /> vibrant high tech employees that will utilize what the City has to offer. <br /> Mayor Gee thanked the various residents who made comments tonight in person and <br /> also via email. He added that the Council values the urban forest but unfortunately, the <br /> arborist report (which is posted on the city's webpage) says there are no roots, so if <br /> there is another earthquake, the tree could fall and harm someone. He added that <br /> maybe the communication could have been done better but a community meeting is <br /> getting scheduled for this week because we are on immediate notice that this is a <br /> dangerous situation. <br /> Dr. Bell added that the City is on notice once the report came out and he said that it was <br /> sad for all of us. Vice Mayor Foust inquired about the liability piece because it affects <br /> everyone and Dr. Bell confirmed that was a serious consideration. Council Member <br /> Pierce added that the speakers could assist by announcing the upcoming meeting and <br /> there might be an opportunity to take pictures with the tree. Council Member Bain said <br /> he too was very sad at the news about the tree, it is a tree he is very familiar with, and <br /> he felt hurt when he heard about the situation. He is hoping that more public <br /> communication gets included in the process. <br /> 7.
