PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> Janet Borgens spoke about the Hometown Holidays event recognizing and thanking <br /> many individuals, Redwood City Downtown Business Group Members, city staff <br /> members, and companies by name for their volunteer work in making this a fantastic <br /> event, which included the tree lighting and parade. She said that they will come back in <br /> the New Year to announce the winners and to present the awards. <br /> Mayor Gee thanked and congratulated the Redwood City Downtown Business group <br /> members for their work on this successful event. <br /> Paula Dresden, Director of Bethlehem AD, spoke positively about the Holiday parade <br /> and fireworks and invited everyone to come to their live interactive nativity show that <br /> they have been doing for the last 22 years. She said this is an interactive, 15-minute <br /> self-guided tour with many costumed actors. She provided the schedule for the event. <br /> Steve Wagstaffe, Chair of the Board of the Sequoia YMCA, thanked Council Member <br /> Howard for her work with the Sequoia YMCA. He said that she has risen over <br /> $100,000.00 and received an award for her work that raises funds to send children to <br /> camp by opening up her home every year. He spoke positively of her representing this <br /> City and also serving on the Board of the YMCA and having a positive impact. <br /> Merrily Robinson, a resident, spoke about being proud of this City and successfully <br /> bringing it alive over the last 20 years. She requested that the Planning Commission <br /> and City Council slow down a little in terms of the development heights and shadows. <br /> She opined that it is not as inviting as previously, and expressed concerns about <br /> blending in architectural designs and asked to look back at what the community wanted <br /> when she served on Redwood City 2000, now Redwood City 2020. <br /> Ella B. Wyche welcomes new housing, but questioned where to find affordable housing <br /> in Silicon Valley. She asked for guidance on finding information on affordable housing <br /> and stated that she and others are experiencing the housing crunch. <br /> Dr. Bell said that staff with work with Ms. Wyche in identifying resources for affordable <br /> housing. <br /> 7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Motion/Second Aguirre/Pierce to approve the Consent Calendar. Motion carried <br /> unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> Mayor Gee made comments about item 7.1A and how in the last 10 years Redwood City <br /> has contributed over 17 million dollars to the School District and this item is another <br /> example of such cooperation. <br /> 1.
