7.1.A. - Page 4 <br /> AGREEMENT <br /> BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AND <br /> THE SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM <br /> This Agreement is made and entered into this day of 20_, <br /> by and between the City of Redwood City ("City") and the Sequoia Union High <br /> School District ("District") (collectively, the "Parties"). <br /> RECITALS <br /> This Agreement is entered into with reference to the following facts and <br /> circumstances: <br /> A. Since the year 2000, the Redwood City Police Department has provided a <br /> School Resource Officer ("SRO") at Sequoia High School. The SRO is involved in a <br /> variety of activities that enhance safety on campus and provide a positive police <br /> presence, increasing the Police Department's ability to serve the needs of the entire <br /> Redwood City community. <br /> B. The partnership between Sequoia High School and the Police Department <br /> is an important part of on-going efforts to reach out to the youth in the community and <br /> establish strong relationships with community members. <br /> C. Sequoia Union High School District agrees to partially fund the School <br /> Resource Officer salary during the nine months when the high school is in session. The <br /> District has requested 40 hours per week of SRO services at Sequoia High School for <br /> the 2014-15 school year (July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015). <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the collaborative agreements <br /> herein contained, the sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the Parties hereto <br /> agree as follows: <br /> 1. Term and Termination. The term of this Agreement shall be for a period <br /> beginning on July 1, 2014 and ending June 30, 2015. <br /> 2. Obligation of the City. During the term of this Agreement, City hereby <br /> covenants and agrees to the following: <br /> A. The City agrees to provide a SRO for Sequoia High School to <br /> address safety issues as described below. <br /> i.
