--..-.....--.-
EXHIBIT "An
STATEMENT OF CONSULTANT SERVICES
FOR THE REDWOOD SHORES COMMUNITY LIBRARY
A. Background
Beginning in September 2002. the firm of Anderson Brule' Architects, Inc. (ABA)
assisted the City in the development and submittal of a Grant Application (provided
by the Library Bond Act of 2000) for State funding of a community branch library in
Redwood Shores. After numerous meetings and presentations of various
concepts to the Community, BCDC, and City staff, a conceptual design was
approved. and a Grant Application was submitted to the State on March 28, 2003.
The location of the proposed Community Branch Library is at the northwest corner
of Marine Parkway and Bridge Parkway in Redwood Shores, and is situated on
approximately 3.5 acres. The building will be a single story that will look out to
Belmont Slough, consists of 22.558 gross square feet, and will include 121 parking
spaces.
On October 28, 2003, the City of Redwood City was awarded $10,103,707 by the
California Public Library Construction and Renovation Board, and was formally
notified by letter dated, November 19, 2003. The scheduled completion of design,
construction, and occupancy of the facility is not projected before July 2007.
B. Approach and Methodology
The consultant team will work collaboratively with the City, Library staff and the
Redwood Shores Community, to design the project in general conformance to the
conceptual design approved by the State, February 13, 2003. The consultant will
also assist City with the review and approval process for the San Francisco Bay
Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), and integrate those
meetings within the project schedule in the Grant Award Agreement between the
City and State.
The Final (Codified) Title 24 Library Bond Act Regulations, effective January 3,
2002, along with City of Redwood City's Standards and Ordinances will guide the
approach, methodology and documentation of the effort, to include the submittal
and review process for design and documentation.
The Community will be invited to participate in the discussions during the
schematic design stages.
,
c. Scope of Services
All work ~hall be performed and documented in compliance with the Final
(Codified) Title 24 Library Bond Act Regulations, effective January 3, 2002. and
City of Redwood City Design Standards and Ordinances.
-1-
