36 9 <br /> Introduction of newly appointed members <br /> of Boards and Commissions and Oath of Office <br /> Mayor Weymouth introduced Miesje A. Aldrich, new <br /> appointee, and Diane J. Pound and Gray Alan Wilson, who <br /> were reappointed to the Park and Recreation Commission; <br /> and Alice M. Kennedy, new appointee, and Marcia E. <br /> Poncia, reappointed to the Civic Cultural Commission. <br /> The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to all <br /> of the appointees. <br /> Mayor Weymouth commended all of the appointees for their <br /> willingness to contribute their time and talents to help- <br /> ing make the community a desirable place to live and ex- <br /> pressed the appreciation of the Council and citizens of <br /> Redwood City for their service. <br /> Acceptance of Community Development Application <br /> by the Department of Housing and Urban Development <br /> Mayor Weymouth introduced James Price, Area. Director of <br /> the Department of Housing and Urban Development who made <br /> a formal presentation accepting the City' s application <br /> for HCDA funds. <br /> Mr. Price commented on the Act which provides for grant- <br /> ing of Housing and Community Development funds and the <br /> pleasure his Department takes in being able to handle <br /> applications promptly. Mr. Price presented a folder to <br /> Mayor Weymouth containing a letter from President Gerald <br /> Ford commending Redwood City for completing its plan <br /> already approved by the Department of Housing and Urban <br /> Development and urging the City to carry out the plan <br /> with the assistance of all citizens. <br /> Mr. Price then signed the letter from his office addressed <br /> to Mayor Weymouth, thereby officially granting $166,000 <br /> to the City to proceed on the first phase of the plan. <br /> Mr. Price commended Council members and City staff for <br /> their excellent work in preparing the application. <br /> Mayor Weymouth expressed the appreciation of Council <br /> members for the expeditious handling of the City'a appli- <br /> cation by HUD, noting that the City Manager had also <br /> remarked on the exceptional cooperation of that department. <br /> Public Hearing - <br /> Abatement of public nuisance - <br /> 1403 and 1419 Oxford Street <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of May 8, 1975 <br /> attaching report of the Chief Building Official relating <br /> to the subject abatement of public nuisance. <br /> Mayor Weymouth declared open the public hearing on the <br /> subject abatement at 7 :51 p.m. <br /> -2- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 5/12/75 <br />
