Briefing <br /> Session with President Ford <br /> Councilman Henderson who had accepted the invitation of <br /> President Ford to attend a briefing session at the White <br /> House on January lE described the session, observing <br /> that Vice President Rockefeller and several Cabinet '"* <br /> members also spoke to the group of about 150 persons <br /> which included several governors along with other ,, ,, <br /> government representatives. Councilman Henderson also <br /> reported on meetings she attended in addition to the <br /> briefing session which were composed of other officials <br /> from California and the federal government. <br /> Councilman Henderson thanked the Council for permitting <br /> her to go to Washington, D. C. to attend the very useful <br /> sessions. Councilman Henderson also replied to questions <br /> from Council members and City Manager Fales regarding <br /> the possible extension of revenue sharing and the con- <br /> ditions under which it may be extended. <br /> Neighborhood Youth Corps Work/Training <br /> and Educational Agreement <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of January 15 <br /> regarding the subject agreement and attaching report <br /> from the Director of Personnel, dated January 7. <br /> Jahrome Buckley, Program Manager of the Neighborhood <br /> Youth Corps, offered to reply to any questions con- __ <br /> cerning the Corps. <br /> Mr. Fales and Mr. Buckley replied to questions from __ <br /> Council regarding the number of persons to be employed; <br /> the seasonal variations with regard to employment; the <br /> difficulties in operating a program dependent on what <br /> Congress may do with regard to funding; and the nature <br /> of the jobs involved. <br /> Glenn Arimoto, 1914 Oak Avenue, a City employee in the <br /> Parks Division, suggested the workers and the City would <br /> all benefit more, if it were possible to work longer <br /> with the Neighborhood Youth Corps employees, as more <br /> education and training are needed. <br /> Mr. Fales and Mr. Buckley described the constraints <br /> upon the City of the program as administered by the <br /> federal government. <br /> MOTION : Title having been read, Councilman Barrett in- <br /> troduced the following resolution and moved, seconded <br /> by Councilman Leipzig, its adoption : <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7342 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br /> EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT--NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH CORPS mm1 <br /> WORK/TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM <br /> mow <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> -2- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 1/20/75 <br />
