21 <br /> Revenue Sharing - Library (continued) <br /> Council members requested that the City Manager advise <br /> the County of San Mateo that the Council finds their <br /> failure to meet their commitment to contribute 45% of <br /> the operating cost of the Fair Oaks Community Center <br /> to be unacceptable and that request be made that they <br /> contribute the necessary additional $14,000 of their <br /> share . <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> Revenue Sharing - Social Services <br /> MOTION : Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Leipzig, to reduce the Revenue Sharing Funds budgeted <br /> for PROBE by $2,683, as the amount allocated by the <br /> County Revenue Sharing Committee plus that allocated <br /> by the City exceeds their budget by that amount. <br /> AMENDMENT TO MOTION : Councilman Rhodes moved to delete <br /> the entire allocation of $26,500 to PROBE. <br /> The amendment died for lack of a second. <br /> Cliff Boxley (see above) objected to the proposed re- <br /> duction in the City allocation and presented a petition <br /> from the Redwood City Homeowners and Taxpayers Coalition <br /> for Social Justice containing about 140 names on 18 pages. <br /> Nancy Bey, Nevada Street, spoke in opposition to the <br /> motion and commended PROBE and the Fair Oaks Community <br /> Center. <br /> M. L. Tepley (see above) inquired concerning PROBE. Mr. <br /> Fales explained that it is a community action agency <br /> which provides social service programs . <br /> Mrs. Zuma Francis (see above) spoke in support of PROBE <br /> programs and in opposition to the motion. <br /> The motion carried on the following roll call vote : <br /> Ayes : Councilmen Barrett, Henderson, Leipzig, <br /> Norris, and Williams <br /> Noes : Councilman Rhodes and Mayor Weymouth <br /> MOTION: Councilman Rhodes moved to delete the Community <br /> Education Center request in the amount of $12,200. <br /> The motion died for lack of a second . <br /> (The Council recessed from 5 :25 to 5:35 p .m. City Clerk <br /> Hildebrand left and did not return. Deputy City Clerk <br /> Anderson arrived at 5:05 p.m. ) <br /> MOTION: Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman <br /> Leipzig, to delete the $4,000 from the Fair Oaks Com- <br /> munity Center items for carpeting in the administrative <br /> area and classrooms . <br /> -21- <br /> Budget 1 <br /> Study <br /> iC 6/7/75 <br />
