22 <br /> Revenue Sharing - Social Services (continued) <br /> In response to question from Council regarding the need <br /> for the carpeting, Center Coordinator Villasenor ex- <br /> plained that the original request was for acoustical <br /> ceilings and carpeting, but the City Manager had de- <br /> leted the acoustical ceilings. He explained that there <br /> is need for soundproofing, because there are three <br /> classes going on at the same time making it difficult <br /> to communicate due to the noise . <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN : Councilman Norris, with consent of <br /> his second, withdrew the motion. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the types of classes held <br /> at the Center and Mr. Villasenor explained they hold <br /> classes in citizenship, painting, Spanish and English, <br /> and soon plan to have a health clinic . Mr. Pales ad- <br /> vised that the City ' s responsibilities are the mainte- <br /> nance of the facility and administration in terms of <br /> managing the building; the classes are conducted by <br /> other organizations. <br /> Revenue Sharing - Financial Administration <br /> City Manager Pales briefly described the lease/purchase <br /> agreement of the computer equipment. <br /> Revenue Sharing - Requests for Funds <br /> In answer to question, Mr. Pales explained that the total <br /> amount of unallocated monies in the Revenue Sharing funds <br /> amounts to $14,717. Mr. Fales then read the list of <br /> requests from the following organizations noting that <br /> PROBE and Community Education Center have already been <br /> discussed : <br /> 1974-75 1975-76 <br /> 1. PROBE Community Development Center $26,500 $ 34,408 <br /> 2 . Community Education Center 12,200 16,000 <br /> 3 . La Escuela Cuauhtemoc 30,000 <br /> 4. Emergency Hunger Fund 200 2,000 <br /> 5. Salvation Army, Operation Concern 11,482 <br /> 6. Planned Parenthood Association 15,048 <br /> y. Brothers & Sisters of Redwood City 62,200 <br /> 8. Sequoia High School 5, 500 <br /> 9. Peninsula Youth Center 21,805 <br /> 10. SER - Jobs for Progress 67,056 <br /> 11 .
