36 I
14, , :mss,_
. ., 5
Announcements
Mayor Weymouth announced that 'a Bicentennial locomotive
called the "Spirit of '76" will stop at the Redwood City
station on Monday, June 23, 1975 at about 11 :00 a.m. and
urged citizens to get details from the newspaper and
attend the event.
Mayor Weymouth also announced that a public hearing will
be held at Sequoia High School and urged those interested
in the proposed closing of the school to attend.
Appeal from the denial of the Planning Commission
of application to amend the Zoning Map to rezone
property from R-4 (multi-family District to
R•4-0 (multi-family office) District at
1304 Jefferson Avenue (Charles it and Lilliam Hockaday)
Mayor Weymouth declared open at 7 :50 p.m. the public
hearing on the subject appeal.
City Clerk -Hildebrand reported that the Affidavit of
Notice of Hearing is on file in her office and that no
written communications have been filed.
In response to question, Planning Director Schroeter ad-
vised that the applicant, the staff and members of the
Planning Commission were agreed that staff had advised
what avenues might be available to the applicant in
order to use the subject property for a professional
office but had not led the applicant to believe his appli-
cation for rezoning would be granted.
Chuck Hockaday, the applicant, 1924 Goodwin, agreed he
was not guaranteed zoning, distributed a statement pre-
viously distributed to the Planning Commission 'and com-
mented-oh his statement.
Discussion followed and Mr. Hockaday replied to questions
and commented concerning his preference for the site and
his desire to upgrade the present structure and convert
it for use as a real estate office .
In response, to question, Mr. Schroeter advised that the
Planning Commission has an assignment from Council to
review-all professional office zones in the City, observing
that the review has had low priority because of the cur-
rent General Plan review.
Gil Waite, 624 Adams, asked whether or not the proposed
rezoning would affect his taxes. Mr. Schroeter advised
that the matter is entirely up to the County Assessor,
however, since the benefit would be only to the rezoned
property, presumably there would be no increased valua-
tion of Mr. Waite ' s property, and, similarly, since the
proposed rezoning would probably not be considered detri-
mental to the neighborhood, it is unlikely Mr. Waite
could expect a decrease in valuation.
-3-
Reg.Mtg.
6/16/75
