Discussion followed concerning the desire of Council
members for a paramedic program, the high cost of support
equipment which would be needed for paramedics; the need
for an organized program which would include continuous
training and equipment; the desirability of having
several adjacent cities join together to set up the
paramedic program in order that the costs will not be
prohibitive, and the probability that when a coordinated
program is available that the matter would come to Coun-
cil by way of the Police Chief or the Fire Chief.
Councilman Henderson requested that the record show that
while there was no response to the requests from PROBE
for additional funds at this time, that the Council has
been very supportive of the activities of that organi-
zation, and the appropriation already made addresses
itself to the City ' s responsibilities with regard to
PROBE services.
Comment was made concerning the possible imposition of
an admission tax, the fact that there is only one major
source of such a tax within the City; the possible in-
hibition of success and growth of that operation if
admission fees are increased; the necessity of employing
additional persons to be responsible for administration
of the admission tax; and the undesirability of estab-
lishing such a tax at this time .
Mayor Weymouth invited anyone present who had not spoken
1 and wished to do so to come forward. No one in the
audience wished to speak .
MOTION: Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Council-
man Leipzig, to close the public hearing.
The motion carried unanimously by voice vote .
The public hearing was closed at 10 :40 p .m.
MOTION : Title having been read, Councilman Leipzig in-
troduced the following ordinance and moved, seconded by
Councilman Barrett, its approval for first reading :
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING
THE FINAL BUDGET OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR
THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1975-JUNE 30, 1976, PRO-
VIDING FOR THE APPROPRIATION AND EXPENDITURE OF ALL
SUMS SET FORTH IN SAID BUDGET, PROVIDING FOR EMER-
GENCY EXPENDITURES, TRANSFERS, ADDITIONAL APPRO-
PRIATIONS AND CANCELLATION OF EXISTING APPROPRIA-
TIONS, THE DISPOSITION OF UNEXPENDED UNENCUMBERED
MONEYS IN FUNDS AT CLOSE OF FISCAL YEAR, AMENDING
THE DISPOSITION OF PROCEEDS COLLECTED UNDER
ARTICLE I, CHAPTER 32, OF THE REDWOOD CITY CODE;
ADOPTING THE BUDGETS FOR GENERAL IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICTS NO. 1-64, NO. 1-65, NO. 2-65 AND NO. 3-65
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 1975-JUNE 30, 1976;
AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1606, AS AMENDED, AND
ALL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
-10-
Reg.Mtg.
6/16/75
