413 <br /> service to the City represented by the honorees and ex- <br /> pressed the appreciation of the City Council, City Staff <br /> and the citizens of Redwood City for the group ' s contri- <br /> bution to the welfare of the community. <br /> Introduction and oath of office of new appointees <br /> Mayor Weymouth expressed Council ' s thanks to all appli- <br /> cants for appointment to City Boards and Commissions, <br /> noting the gratification of Council at the large number <br /> of responses received to their invitation to residents <br /> to apply for such appointments . Mayor Weymouth welcomed <br /> John Murphy who was reappointed to the Planning Commis- <br /> sion and the following new appointees :- Fred Miller tb <br /> the Library Board for a full three-year term commencing <br /> July 1, 1975; Larry Schenck to the Planning Commission <br /> for a full three-year term commencing July 1, 1975; and <br /> Paul C . Keckley and William Jardine for full five-year <br /> terms on the Port Commission . Mayor Weymouth noted that <br /> the Reverend Ralph C . Daniel was also newly appointed to <br /> the Library Board for a full three-year term, but was not <br /> able to be present at this time . <br /> City Clerk Hildebrand administered the oath of office to <br /> the new appointees . <br /> Mayor Weymouth thanked the new appointees for their <br /> willingness to serve their community, observing that <br /> several of them already have long records of such ser- <br /> vice, <br /> and offered them the best wishes of the Council <br /> for success in their new positions . <br /> Withdrawal of 2600 Block of Broadway <br /> from Downtown Parking and Business <br /> Improvement Area No. 1 <br /> Mayor Weymouth declared open at 7 :50 p.m. the public <br /> hearing on the subject requested withdrawal. <br /> City Clerk Hildebrand reported that the Affidavit of <br /> Publication of Notice of Hearing is on file in her office <br /> and that no written communications have been received . <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of June 3, 1975 <br /> explaining the requested withdrawal and the procedures <br /> required for consideration of the request . <br /> In response to question, Mrs. Hildebrand advised that all <br /> members of the Downtown Parking and Business Improvement <br /> Area No. 1 were notified in writing of the public hearing <br /> and that no letters were returned by the Post Office for <br /> inability to deliver. 11 Herbert Green, Attorney, representing himself, Fireside <br /> Thrift and several businessmen in the 2600 Block, stated <br /> that the kinds of business now located in the subject <br /> Block do not benefit from the promotion activities con- <br /> ducted by the Improvement Area and that there is inequity <br /> involved in the amount Fireside is required to pay as <br /> -2- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 6/23/75 <br />
