149 <br /> finding that the proposed subdivision is consistent with <br /> the General Plan of the City of Redwood City. <br /> CHANGE OF PRESIDING OFFICER For the purpose of seconding the <br /> motion of Councilman Barrett, Vice Mayor Williams relinquished <br /> the Chair to Councilman Rhodes. <br /> Discussion followed and Mr Fales, Mr Schricker and Mr Schroeter <br /> replied to questions concerning the right of the property owner <br /> to make use of his property in a manner compatible with other de- <br /> velopment in the area, whether it is the desire of nearby residents <br /> to prevent development of the property, the type of residential <br /> use of nearby property, procedures with regard to Planning Commis- <br /> sion jurisdiction in approving Tentative Maps, the requirements <br /> with regard to what may be considered by Council in approving <br /> Final Maps, the need for justification for any exceptions, the <br /> fact that the City has some cul de sacs longer than the one pro- <br /> posed and that the Fire Department has reviewed and approved the <br /> proposed cul de sac, and the previously stated desires of nearby <br /> residents for development of conventional houses and lots on the <br /> subject property <br /> SECOND WITHDRAWN Vice Mayor Williams withdrew his second of the <br /> motion, stating that he would prefer the matter be considered by <br /> more than four members of the Council in order that a fair de- <br /> cision may be made based on the vote of a majority <br /> The motion then died for lack of a second. <br /> MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Vice Mayor Williams, <br /> that consideration of the application for exception to certain pro- <br /> visions of the Subdivision Ordinance for property at 1792 Valota <br /> Road owned by Hagen Construction Company be continued until <br /> October 6, 1975. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> RETURN OF PRESIDING OFFICER Vice Mayor Williams then returned <br /> to the Chair <br /> (The Council recessed from 8 45 to 8 55 p m ) <br /> Planning Commission report re Solid Waste Management Plan <br /> City Manager Fales referred to the Planning Commission report of <br /> September 18, 1975 transmitting their recommendations on the Pre- <br /> liminary Report of Solid Waste Management Plan for San Mateo County <br /> prepared by the County Engineering and Road Department in collabora- <br /> tion with the San Mateo County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Mr. <br /> Fales described the Committee and outlined the requirement with re- <br /> gard to review and approval of the Plan by the Planning Commissions <br /> and City Councils in the County. Mr. Fales advised that when approvals <br /> are complete, the Plan will go to Sacramento as the San Mateo County <br /> Plan. <br /> Vice Mayor Williams, Redwood City representative on the Committee, <br /> stated that the Committee should reply to questions brought up by <br /> the Planning Commission in their report and observed that the Com- <br /> mittee has already set up two public meetings for the purpose of <br /> hearing from cities in the County <br /> -5- <br /> Reg Mtg <br /> 9/22/75 <br />
