X60 <br /> Report re City Hall remodeling - <br /> City Manager Fales referred to his report of September 26, 1975 <br /> regarding proposed remodeling of City Hall in order to attempt to <br /> attain greater efficiency of operations in the outdated building <br /> Discussion followed and Council members and Mr Fales commented on <br /> the inadequacies of the present City Hall , the fact that it was <br /> not constructed to meet the needs and demands of citizens in 1975, <br /> the fact that construction of a much needed new facility cannot be <br /> expected to take place for at least five years, the expectation <br /> that increased efficiency created by the proposed remodeling will <br /> exceed the rather modest cost, and the desirability of acquainting <br /> citizens with the unfortunate condition of the present structure <br /> and the cost of the inefficiencies and space problems it presents <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Leipzig, <br /> to approve the plan for remodeling City Hall as presented in the <br /> report of the City Manager of September 26, 1975 and to authorize <br /> preparation of plans and specifications <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 75-199) <br /> Proposed support of position of Port Commission <br /> re construction of Dumbarton Bridge <br /> City Manager Fales observed that on September 22, 1975 Council had <br /> directed the City Attorney to prepare a draft letter to the Depart- <br /> ment <br /> of Transportation of the State of California in support of the <br /> position of the Port Commission which urges construction of a new <br /> Dumbarton Bridge together with extension of the bridge approaches <br /> to the vicinity of Harbor Boulevard and Woodside Road freeway inter- <br /> change in the City Mr Fales advised that the draft letter was <br /> prepared and delivered to Council members and is now before them <br /> MOTION Councilman Leipzig moved, seconded by Councilman Barrett, <br /> to approve the draft letter to Mr Donald Burns, Secretary of the <br /> Business and Transportation Division of the State Department of <br /> Transportation in Sacramento prepared by the City Attorney urging <br /> construction of a new Dumbarton Bridge and concurring with the <br /> similar position of the Port Commission transmitted to Mr Burns <br /> in their letter of September 5, 1975 <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 75-200) <br /> Consent Calendar <br /> MOTION Titles having been read, Councilman Norris introduced the <br /> following resolutions and ordinance and moved, seconded by Council - <br /> man Rhodes, adoption of the resolutions and previously approved <br /> ordinance and approval of all other items <br /> -6- <br /> Reg Mtg <br /> 10/6/75 <br />
