2 8 1 <br /> at this time with possible future review of the situ- <br /> ation at a later date. <br /> Jim Adkins, 12 Woodstock, suggested painted crosswalks <br /> without stops signs would be dangerous and urged in- <br /> stallation of the 4-way signs. <br /> Mrs. Travers (see above) advised that since the cross <br /> ftim streets already have stop signs, only two need be <br /> installed on Whipple at a total estimated cost of $100. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Leipzig moved, seconded by Council- <br /> man Norris, that 4-way stop signs be installed at the <br /> Whipple Avenue and Copley/King intersection. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the desirability of a <br /> pedestrian activated signal in the middle of the block <br /> with a long amber beam; the unusual distance on Whipple <br /> which is uninterrupted by stop signs or signals, and <br /> the desire of the Council to protect all persons using <br /> Redwood City streets, including pedestrians, bicyclists <br /> and automobile drivers. <br /> The motion carried on the following roll call vote : <br /> Ayes: Councilmen Barrett, Leipzig, Norris and <br /> Mayor Weymouth <br /> Noes : Councilmen Henderson, Rhodes, Williams <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO. 75-26) <br /> MOTION: Upon advise of City Attorney Schricker that <br /> the motion just carried requires a resolution for <br /> implementation, and, title having been read, Council- <br /> man Leipzig introduced the following resolution and <br /> moved, seconded by Councilman Norris, its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7355 ESTABLISHING STOP ENTRANCES <br /> AT INTERSECTION OF WHIPPLE AVENUE WITH COPLEY <br /> AND KING STREETS <br /> The resolution was adopted on the following roll call <br /> vote : <br /> Ayes : Councilman Barrett, Leipzig, Norris, Rhodes <br /> and Mayor Weymouth <br /> Noes: Councilmen Henderson, Williams <br /> MOTION: Councilman Henderson moved to approve the <br /> following staff recommendations : <br /> 1. that a school crossing guard be posted at the <br /> intersection of Hudson Street and Whipple <br /> Avenue ; <br /> own <br /> 2. that stop signs be posted on the following <br /> lbw minor street approaches to Whipple Avenue. <br /> Following are the minor streets : Arch Street, <br /> Birch Street, Clinton Street, Elwood Street, <br /> Fulton Street, Grant Street, Hudson Street, <br /> -7- <br /> Reg.Mtg. <br /> 2/3/75 <br />
