75 <br /> • <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY (continued) <br /> RODENT CONTROL <br /> Mr. Addiego advised that a staff report will be submitted to Council <br /> recommending calling for bids on the rodent control program. <br /> M/S: Chandler/Leipzig to accept the recommendations of the City <br /> Manager regarding Other Public Safety Programs. <br /> Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (pp. 16-23) <br /> COMMUNITY PLANNING <br /> LONG RANGE PLANNING <br /> CURRENT PROJECTS PLANNING <br /> In response to questions, Planning Director Schroeter advised that <br /> there has been increased development activity; that it is difficult <br /> to predict the amount of activity; that an attempt is made to <br /> allocate time for both long range and current planning, but needs <br /> dictate allocations; the need to defer rezoning assignments which <br /> require an environmental impact report; the mandate for a new Housing <br /> Element of the General Plan by September; and the requirements with <br /> regard to rezoning the area east of Bayshore to "Urban Reserve" from <br /> "Tidal Plain" in accordance with Council direction. <br /> Mr. Schroeter explained an apparent discrepancy with regard to the <br /> personnel situation in his department. <br /> Discussion followed concerning the assignment to the Planning <br /> Commission relating to the El Camino Real Corridor Study which was <br /> 0"""" returned to the Commission and the intent of Council to offer <br /> guidelines for consideration on how to proceed. It was suggested a <br /> joint meeting with the Commission be held for that purpose, or that <br /> the Commission could draft a procedure for consideration by Council <br /> following which a joint meeting could be held. <br /> HOUSING AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> CONSENSUS: Mayor Biagi determined it to be the consensus of Council <br /> to add "and encourage development of new housing stock" to <br /> Objective 2.
