1 <br /> 7 <br /> • <br /> • <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (continued) <br /> 11.111! <br /> GENERAL ENGINEERING <br /> In response to request, director of Public Works Addiego described the ,gip <br /> manner of charging fees to projects. <br /> CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS ENGINEERING <br /> CONCEPTUAL AND PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING <br /> DESIGN ENGINEERING <br /> CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING <br /> CID 1-64 BOND CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING <br /> In response to question, Mr. Addiego said there has been a decrease <br /> in activity; that there has been no increase in personnel; and that <br /> work on Twin Dolphin involves some District and some developer work. <br /> M/S: Chandler/Britschgi to accept the recommendation of the City <br /> Manager regarding General and Capital Improvements Engineering. <br /> Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> COMMUNITY PROMOTION <br /> • It was suggested that a business downturn in the County might suggest <br /> more funds are needed for promotion and the formula regarding use of <br /> the transient occupancy tax and contributions might be reviewed. <br /> Barbara Bigelow, Chamber of Commerce, reported that the nine objectives <br /> contained in the 1980-81 contract with the City will soon be completed <br /> and a report provided. She stated that the City can be specific this <br /> year also in their requirements from the Chamber, observing that either <br /> the Chamber will suggest the projects as they did last year, or the <br /> City may wish to suggest them. <br /> M/S: Bury/ to increase the allocation of $20,000 each from <br /> transient occupancy tax to $25,000 to the Chamber of Commerce and <br /> $25,000 to the Convention and Visitors Bureau. <br /> The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> M/S: Bury/Rhodes: to accept the recommendation of the City Manager <br /> regarding Community Promotion. <br /> Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> TRANSPORTATION (pp. 24-32) <br /> In response to question regarding the area of Whipple Avenue where motor- <br /> cyclists are eroding dirt and creating dust and a hazardous situation, <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith advised that the area is State property and <br /> that Mobil has just rebuilt a levee with a higher fence to prevent <br /> motorcyclists from lifting bikes over it. City Manager Fales said that he <br /> will contact the State about the situation.
